Essential Laos

Itinerary :

Day 1: Vientiane: Arrive at Vientiane airport, you will meet your local guide at the exit. Transfer to your hotel where a welcome drink will be served. Check in to your room and the rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Vientiane.

Day 2: Vientiane: Breakfast at the hotel. You will be picked up from your hotel and proceeds to visit Wat Sisaket, the oldest monastery in Vientiane, built-in 1818. Continue to nearby Ho Phrakeo, the former Royal temple, now a Museum of Buddhist art and sculpture. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the COPE center and then proceeds to That Luang with its golden stupa in the characteristic banana flower shape it is the most revered shrine in Laos. Stop at Patouxay (the Victory Monument) for a view of the city and then return to your hotel around 15h00 and free at leisure. Dinner at a local Restaurant. Overnight in Vientiane. (B, L, D)

Day 3: Vientiane – Vang Vieng: Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, leave Vientiane (160 KM/3 and half hours) along Route no. 13 north towards Vang Vieng, the town famous for its magnificent limestone scenery. Lunch at a local restaurant on the way. Once you arrive in Vang Vieng, visit Tham Chang Cave with its stunning view over the valley. At the end of the day, take a small boat for a quick tour on the Nam Song River. Overnight in Vang Vieng. Day 4: Vang Vieng – Luang Prabang: Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, leave Vang Vieng and continue your journey towards Luang Prabang (235KM/6-7 hours), make a stop at Phatang (17 km north of Vang Vieng). From the village temple, you will get an outstanding view of the mountains. Lunch in a local restaurant on the way. Arrive Luang Prabang. Check-in to your hotel. Dinner and Overnight stay at the hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 5: Luang Prabang: Breakfast at the hotel. You will be picked up from your hotel and then visit the old city with the Royal Palace Museum housing the most important treasures of Laos’ recent past. Continue your visit Wat Mai with its five-tiered roof and exquisitely carved veranda. Proceed to Wat Xieng Thong at the tip of the peninsula. The oldest and most beautiful temple of the UNESCO World heritage town dates back from the 16th century. The roof sweep low to the ground and glass colored panels adorn the walls of the chapels; see the residential neighborhoods of the peninsular, drive towards the Kuang Si Waterfalls (32KM/45mn). On the way stop at Carpe Diem for lunch. Take a short walk through the forest (Where the rescued beers kept) to reach the waterfalls. After enjoying the scenery, you may choose to take a swim in one of the nearby clear pools and return to the town around 3 PM. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Luang Prabang. (B, L, D)

Day 6: Luang Prabang: Early morning, when the sunrise, participate in Takbat ceremony, the monks’ alms offering. This ritual is an important part of Lao people’s life and offers a memorable experience and great snapshots. Your guide will explain how to follow the strict customs and rules involved. After the ceremony, you will visit fresh local market. Return to your hotel for breakfast. Time at leisure until you are transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
